Childrens’ Eye Tests and Glasses

Children are the future and the vision of the future needs to be clear.

If your child has an undiagnosed eye condition, it could go on to have a negative impact on their future vision; in extreme cases it could cause irreversible damage. So the sooner a potential problem is detected, generally the more efficient treatment is.

At Eye Express, we are well aware that taking your children to have their eyes tested is scarcely an occasion that goes smoothly. However, all of our optometrists are professional, experienced and well equipped. So rest assured we’re able to deal with even the most stubborn little ones.

Children are rarely aware of how their vision should be developing; they may be struggling to read books, or sitting too close to the television, but it is unlikely that they will make you aware of this as they often perceive it as normal. This is why it is imperative to have a professional assess them on a regular basis.

If the results of your child’s examination show that they need glasses then do not fear. We have an astoundingly fun selection of vibrant, colourful children’s glasses which are available in a variety of shapes and sizes.

Yes, they are free on the NHS and, should your child be assessed as requiring to wear glasses, there is a great selection of free NHS funded children’s glasses in store.

Make sure your child spends more time outdoors. Limit screen time on computers or other digital devices. By balancing screen time with outdoor time, you may help limit your child’s myopia (short-sightedness – child cannot see objects clearly at a distance) and protect their vision as they grow older.

Ask your Optometrist to fit your child with myopia control lenses. Eye Express is pleased to be an accredited supplier of Essilor Stellest lenses.
