Under the 1993 Health and Safety DSE Regulations, employers are obliged to provide a sight test for any employee that regularly uses a VDU (Visual Display Unit) for more than one hour during their working day. Employers are also legally required to provide basic spectacles specifically for VDU use if necessary.
